"A Great Place For Family Reunions"

Date of review: May 10, 2011 - danielrfoley; Eureka, Ca

We attended a family wedding held at the PINE CONE RESORT. There was more than sufficient room for our entire family's to attend the wedding. Great efforts were made by the owner to acquire seating and dining tables for the more than 50 of us. Also there a cute quaint cottages to stay overnight in. Complete with an on the grounds pool, outside barbeques and pleasant private areas to escape to, I would recommend the PINE CONE RESORT to any of my friends for a great place to stay. Thank you for the opportunity to give a review. Stayed August 2010, traveled on business

"Nice cozy place to stay"

Date of review: Mar 12, 2011 - by BzzMark; Huntington Beach, Ca

Family of 12 (7 adults & 5 children) split up between 2 rooms in buildings 2 & 5. They were perfect rooms for what we intended...sleeping.

It was nice that each room came with a standard size fridge, a stove, pots/pans/dishes, and a sink so we could have a couple family meals. Wish we wouldve brought wood for the fireplace but now know for next time It's a little old school looking but clean. It's only 3-5 minutes from Heavenly and Casinos which is what we were there for. We couldn't hear traffic off the highway from these rooms which was a concern reading a past review. This place is pet friendly except for building 5 that doesn't allow pets (I think). If you are sensitive to smells building 5 might be your best bet. I slept in the room in building 2 and there was a very faint smell but being the pet owner/lover that I am I got used to the smell real quick and no one else in my family noticed or even said anything (note I'm only speaking on behalf of one of these rooms in their 5 buildings). One of the other downsides is the free wifi and that it was really slow on my laptop and iPhones. We got quicker Internet using our cell network.

Overall it was a decent place to stay and will definitely come back to ride Heavenly.

"Great Homey Place"

Date of review: Jan 6, 2011 - by edank; Santa Monica, Ca

My girlfriend and I spent 3 nights in the resort during 2010 Xmas. We had a reasonable price of $120 per night.

We had the 'building' furthest away from the highway, so there wasn't any noise problem, we decided to make our own food, and they had everything we needed, pans, pots, plates, silverware etc. we just brought the ingredients. Tthere was a small tv (around 22'') with a dvd player, but thats not why we were there. so it didnt bother us.
The shower and bathroom were in new condition, and the bedroom was nice and comfy. There is also an outside hot tub that we didnt use. The ladies in the reception were very nice, but except from getting our keys when we got there, we had not contact with them. The place is 5 minutes north from the CA border, so its not far, but not walking distance.

"Clean, rustic, beautiful grounds and pine trees with huge pine cones"

Date of review: Oct 15, 2010 - by mannj511; Chicago, IL

We were with a group of 12 and we rented multiple cabins at the resort. The rooms and grounds were simple, clean and tidy with a heated swimming pool surrounded by tall pine trees with huge pine cones. The resort is close to the city center where there is plenty of shopping, restaurants, casinos. It is also very close to Lake Tahoe, there many beautiful state parks were hiking was available and swimming on the many beaches. The water in the lakes were so clear and blue like nothing I had ever seen before. Just beautiful.

Robert, the manager was very helpful in suggesting local activities for us to consider and checked in on our group every day to make sure our accomodations and our stay in Lake Tahoe was good and if we needed anything. We had dinner at a great French bistro right next store to the lodge...delicious!!

"So adorable, we stayed here twice!"

Date of review: Oct 14, 2010 - by themissus; Colorado Springs, Co

When my husband and I travel, we like to get a genuine feel for the locale and tend to stay away from hotel chains that don't reflect the local flavor. The Pine Cone Resort is precisely the kind of place we like to stay. In fact, we stayed here twice in the same season. It has the feel of a little cabin in a mountain community, just far enough away from the manic tourist center of town, yet just a very short walk to the lake!

With amenities like a bedroom, a kitchen, a hot tub, a pool, laundry on-site, wi-fi and cable, we felt much more at home than if we have been in a hotel room. It's so homey, in fact, that we met a couple that have opted to live there long term!

If you're looking for a boxed, packaged experience, you may want to stay at a big hotel, but if you prefer a more organic travel experience, the Pine Cone is perfect!

"Wonderful time staying in the "Pine cone"!"

Date of review: Oct 11, 2010 - by thejo110; Jacksonville Beach, Fl

We absolutely love this place. There is no better place to vacation then a place that makes you feel at home. Wifi and cable included. I feel that a part of the charm are the local residents who have stayed at the pine cone for some time now. They are just as welcoming as the staff themselves. The location is fantastic. Five minutes down the hill and you're right where you need to be. If you love an "off the beaten path place" this is it for you. I will be coming back to the Pine cone every time that I'm in Tahoe.

"Pine Cone Resort"

Located on State Hwy 50 in Zelpher Cove just south of Lake Tahoe and State Line, California. Nice but rustic. No resturant but close to many. Just a few minutes from Heavenly Ski T-Bar and casinos. Right across the highway from beautiful Lake Tahoe. Great prices!

"Absolutely Charming and Quaint! True Tahoe Charm"

Date of review: Aug 10, 2010 - by Tink0820; Crescent City, Ca

The Pine Cone Resort has true Tahoe charm! The units are like cabins, nestled amongst towering pines, just far enough away from the Casinos to feel secluded. The beaches are about a 1/2 mile away, as well as a grocery store if you are inclined to use the kitchette in the unit. We stayed just 2 nights, wished we could stay longer! The staff were wonderful! Units clean, pool was great! I would definitely recommend!

"Wow! Definitely A Best Value In Tahoe"

Date of review: Feb 12, 2010 - by BillyJ4U; Chicago, Il

A Valentine's Day Weekend To Cherish. This adorable resort lived up to the repuation we had heard as, "THE Place to Stay" to experience "Classic Old Tahoe Charm." Surrounded by awesome giant pine trees, we loved our chalet that was so clean and comfy, with all the creature comforts of home, which included a fast WDSL service, cable TV channels galore, a great big hand-crafted stone wood burning fireplace with firewood provided, and private six-person out-door very clean and well-maintained hot tub jacuzzi. Mrs. Nan Hart, the long-time resident Property Manager is a total hoot: friendly as can be and her staff are equally warm and hospitable. We're already planning our next Valentines Day get-a-way there next year.

"Great Location & Value. Perfect for families & extended stays"

Date of review: Jun 14, 2009 - by Unbiased; Los Angeles, Ca

The Pine Cone Resort offers big rooms (ours was a one-bedroom apartment) at a great value. The rooms have full kitchens with a coffee maker, but you need to bring your own coffee and filters (there's a Safeway a couple of blocks away). You notice how well maintained the property is (our room was really clean), and there's a large pool, spa, and grassy area. We didn't bring our dog, but I noticed that they do accept pets. I like that we can park our car right near the room and our teenagers appreciated the free wifi. Overall, a great choice and a very good location close to everything.

"Great vacation cabin on a budget"

Date of review: May 27, 2009 - by katiedol; Phoenix, Az

Well my husband and I like to keep costs down when traveling and this hotel was perfect. I almost died when the lady at the front desk said you get a full living room, fully stocked kitchen and apartment style place for under $100 a night. We loved it because they were very willing to let us bring our dog and they even waived the dog fee because they quoted us for two nights and not three as I requested. It was a simple mistake but they easily cut funds to make up for it. It's close to everything: boating, swimming in the lake, casinos. It is also not directly in town so you still get the feel of being out in the mountains. The cost was really low I think I factored around $66 a night for a Holiday weekend. The workers were really helpful and friendly and they don't pester. It was a really wonderful vacation. Can't wait to go back. If you are looking for ultra-modern rooms then this is not the place for you. These are older cabins with the 90's green carpet and it has a real cabin feel, which I loved. You can also sleep up to 7 people per room and it has a fireplace. It was a great trip!

"Excellent all around resort, highly accomodating management!!"

Date of review: Apr 15, 2009 - by LakeTahoe; London, UK

We stayed here for 3 months during the 2009 ski season. We could not have wanted for more from the staff at PCR! The free wifi in the rooms was really great for us, the laundry facilities were great and hot tub made our stay extra special.
I would reccomend this for people who do not wish to stay in the somewhat tacky and outdated casino area of heavenly village. A car would be ideal but there is a shuttle bus from outside into town which we used for most of our stay.

"Great Family place!!!"

Date of review: Jun 23, 2004 - Member; Roseville, Ca

Great rooms, fantastic atmosphere, always clean and close to all things nature and if you want, Casinos. Very peaceful, yet child friendly with the pool, jacuzzi and ping pong tables. Also has BBQ available. Just a great location. My adult children now book their own vacations there for weekend getaways (with their kids!). I highly recommend to anyone looking for their own relaxing vacation.
